Full Job Description
We are excited to announce that we are looking to appoint an ambitious, energetic and exceptional individual as a Learning Support Assistant within the new Resource Specialist Provision at Waltham Toll Bar Academy. The 'Bridgehouse' opening in September 2026 will cater for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and in receipt of an EHCP who need additional support within their mainstream education. The Learning Support Assistants will work closely together and will play a key role, alongside the SENDCO and Lead Teacher of SEND, in collaborating with staff across the academy and colleagues in the Trust, local authority and external agencies to ensure a broad, balanced and specialist curriculum is provided for our children accessing the provision. We are looking for an experienced learning support assistant who demonstrates a strong desire to ensure children, who have often had negative experiences of education, are able to develop their skills and confidence, using adaptive, personalised teaching strategies and 1:1 interventions. It is crucial that the Learning Support Assistant creates a nurturing and empathic approach, prioritising child-centred relational approaches. The successful candidate will hold ambitious expectations for all students with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively. Lincolnshire Gateway Academy Trust are already working closely with Trauma Informed Schools UK to support the development of our vision, values and curriculum. It is essential the successful candidate champions our principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with our children to create a safe learning environment. An ability to be creative and adaptable in your approach is crucial. Experience of working with children across key stages is desirable. A commitment to ensuring The Bridgehouse is fully inclusive and is part of the academy, is essential. Experience of working with children with additional needs, including those with SEMH, is vital. The Learning Support Assistant will have significant impact upon the lives and opportunities experienced by the young people of Waltham and across North East Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will work alongside the Principal, Vice Principal of Inclusion, SENDCO, staff team and supportive Trust, shaping the direction of travel of the new RSP (Resource Specialist Provision). During the first year, the Bridgehouse will offer 6 places and will increase up to 12 places to maximum capacity by the end of the first year.
