Lead SDET - Test Automation Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to support the testing and quality of our software applications. The successful candidate will develop and maintain automated tests, improve testing processes, and work closely with developers and project teams to deliver reliable software. The role requires practical experience in Java-based test automation, API testing, database validation and continuous integration, together with the ability to guide other testers. Job Roles and Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts and reusable testing frameworks using Java, Selenium, Playwright and related tools.
• Plan and execute functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing for web applications and backend systems.
• Create and maintain API tests using REST Assured, Postman and similar tools to verify system integrations.
• Write SQL queries to check data accuracy, database updates and information exchanged between systems.
• Test ETL processes and data transfers to confirm that information is complete, accurate and consistent.
• Validate messaging and data flows involving Kafka or similar integration technologies.
• Run automated tests through CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Support testing of applications hosted in AWS, Azure or container-based environments.
• Carry out basic performance and security testing, and report any issues identified.
• Prepare test plans, test cases, execution results and clear defect reports.
• Investigate test failures, work with developers to resolve defects and retest fixes.
• Use Jira or other test management tools to track testing progress and defects.
• Participate in Agile meetings, sprint planning and release testing activities.
• Review automated test scripts, promote good testing practices and provide guidance to junior team members.
• Work with developers, business analysts and project managers to understand requirements and improve software quality.
  
  Must have a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in software testing or quality engineering, including substantial hands-on experience in test automation, automation framework development and implementation.
• Strong practical knowledge of Java and automated testing using Selenium or Playwright.
• Experience with test frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit or Cucumber.
• Experience testing REST APIs using REST Assured, Postman or similar tools.
• Good SQL skills and experience checking data accuracy across databases.
• Experience with ETL or data integration testing and familiarity with Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with AWS or Azure and an understanding of Docker or Kubernetes.
• Experience with test planning, defect tracking and Agile development practices.
• Ability to review test automation work, support colleagues and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable Skills:
• Experience with performance testing tools, security testing or reporting dashboards.
• Exposure to Python, AI-assisted testing, GraphQL or cloud-based microservices.
