Full Job Description
As part of HIOWH NHS Foundation Trust's strategic commitment to be a centre of excellence for research in community and mental health care, the post holder will work as a specialist research practitioner. They will lead on the development and management of a substantial commercial and non-commercial research portfolio, and act as a research liaison partner with a clinical division.
The post holder will work with both internal and external partners as well as other strategic stakeholders to develop relationships and partnerships that increase capacity for and engagement in community- based research, working across the organisation within their professional specialism, but also specifically supporting the clinical division to which they are aligned.
The post-holder will work as a self-directed practitioner, working closely with the research and clinical teams to manage the care of patients and increase participation in research. They will also support the engagement of patients and carers in research and the broader activities of the Academy.
The post holder will ensure that participant care, treatment, assessment, follow-up and data collection are co-ordinated according to the appropriate research protocols and regulatory framework. They will provide professional support and leadership for all colleagues involved in research, promoting continued growth in research activity and translation of findings into practice., Liaise with the Head of Research regarding research activities, growth and the delivery of approved studies across the Trust
Collaborate with the Divisional Research, Clinical and Service leads/ colleagues to ensure that sound arrangements and standard operating procedures are established, developed, monitored and maintained to run research in accordance with the research governance framework and good clinical and research practice.
Lead on the setting up, running and recruiting to a portfolio of clinical trials within the specialty.
Ensure that research participants receive their treatment in accordance with approved research protocols and the standards set out in the National Research Governance Framework for Health & Social Care (DH, 2005) and where applicable, the Principles of Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP, 1996), and UK Regulation (e.g. 'Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004.
