Lead Nurse Endocrine / Diabetes

The post holder will work within the Diabetes/Endocrinology footprint in outpatients, wards and allocated offices, in the community and across the West Midlands.

The post holder will co-ordinate and lead the overall management and the strategic development of the nursing teams and share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Endocrine, Diabetes, including the Rare Diabetes service, Metabolic Bone/Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) and Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) nursing services.In conjunction with other members of the diabetes and endocrine multidisciplinary team, will enable the development of district-wide services for children with endocrine/diabetes disorders, familiesand professionals, identifying needs and facilitating the implementation of services within agreed local and national standards.Promote excellence in nursing practice through delivery in an advanced level of nursing care to the child and family.They will work closely with external stakeholders from health, education, social care, and the public

An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, Lead Diabetes/Endocrine nurse to join a well-established specialist nursing service. The service includes Diabetes, Rare Diabetes, Endocrinology, CEW and Metabolic Bone which provide a local and regional service

You will work with the specialist nursing team to lead on the continued high quality and specialist care provided across theseservices within BWC. You should be clinically up to date in one of the specialties with excellent knowledge of current guidance.

You will need to be a RSCN/RN child branch with proven post registration experience in care of the child and young person with Diabetes or an Endocrine condition. You will also need to have experience of managing and leading teams and /or caseloads alongside a recognised management course. Having experience of working in communityand a current driving licence, would be advantageous but not essential. The post is involved in specialist education so experience of delivering teaching to wide range of professionals and settings would be desirable. Extensive safeguarding experience is important as the postholder will need to lead and support the specialist team with complex cases, alongside the Trust safeguarding team.
