Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian to join our team on a maternity leave cover. This role would suit an experienced Band 7 or Band 8a dietitian currently working in neonates who is looking to further develop their leadership and management skills. If you are keen to gain additional team lead experience within a supportive and well-established service, this could be an ideal next step for you.

We are part of the largest NHS acute trust in England, with one of the busiest Paediatric Services in London. We have 31 Paediatric Dietitians who work across four sites and provide tertiary paediatric services including Surgery, Cystic Fibrosis, Gastroenterology, Allergy, Neonatology, Neurology, Diabetes and PICU. We have a diverse cultural and ethnic population and cover both affluent as well as socially-deprived areas.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day line management of three Band 7 Neonatal Dietitians based across the trust at The Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital and Newham University Hospital. You will bring significant neonatal dietetic experience and take a lead role in the development, review and updating of neonatal nutrition guidelines and policies.

You will work closely with the other Band 8a neonatal therapy leads as part of a supportive and collaborative neonatal leadership team., The Lead Dietitian for Neonates is responsible for and will provide the clinical and professional leadership for Neonatal Dietetics across Barts Health NHS Trust. They will support the clinical service lead with the development and delivery of innovative service improvement projects focussed on improving quality of care and patient outcomes. They will support the clinical service lead and Lead Paediatric Dietitian in the strategic development of the service.

The post-holder will be expected to function with a high degree of autonomy providing an expert clinical service to the Neonatal Teams. They will provide expert consultation and intervention for clients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition. The successful candidate will aim to standardize clinical nutrition guidance across the sites. They will direct training and education for therapy and clinical staff, and ensure that Therapies are engaged in research and evidence based practice.

The post holder will lead on both discipline specific, inter-professional and cross boundary service development projects that are of a standard that can be presented at peer reviewed conferences.
