Lead IT Network Engineer Advert We have an exciting opportunity to join our Network team. This lead technical role is vital to providing network services to Companies House. You will be part of a small network team responsible for day-to-day support of both cloud-hosted and on-premise network services on a 24/7/365 basis. Specifically, you will be expected to take the lead in delivering strategic and tactical enhancements to the existing cloud infrastructure utilising Infrastructure as Code (IaC)., + Leading the delivery of technical improvements and upgrades to the cloud and on-premise network infrastructure.
+ Playing an active role in the continuing migration of network services to the cloud, and implementation of the cloud infrastructure required to host all CH systems.
+ Working with the Network Architect on future network strategy and design for cloud-hosted services in AWS and Azure.
+ Managing network security devices in line with Companies House security policies.
+ Leading the delivery of on-premise hardware upgrades such as switch stacks and wireless controllers.
+ Collaborating with other teams on projects and for troubleshooting issues that may arise with network services.
+ Supporting the existing network infrastructure (on premise and in the cloud) alongside the existing team members and participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rota.
About the team:
You would be joining a great team of people to work on maintaining our cloud and on-premise network infrastructure and help our users and customers stay connected to each other and the resources they need. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in being part of our journey from traditional on-premises networking to the cloud. The Network Team is part of the IT Services Team which sits in the Digital and Technology Directorate. The Directorate has over 200 internal staff who are supplemented by external contractors and third-party resources as necessary. The IT Services Team is responsible for day-to-day support and maintaining the availability of all IT services within the organisation including both the customer-facing systems used by the public and the internal systems used by staff., We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

What will the process look like?
1. We'll sift all applications - this involves reading through them all, please bear with us as this can take some time. We may raise the score required at sift stage to progress to interview if we receive a high number of applications.
2. Companies House uses a blended interview technique, allowing us to find out more about you. We use the Success Profile framework and at interview we will use Success Profiles assessing the Behaviours and Technical Skills listed in the advert, and Strengths.
3. Interviews will be conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams.
4. There will be an activity as part of the interview - this will be prepared by candidates on the day of the interview. Candidates will be presented with a scenario to consider and then will be asked to talk through their thoughts and ideas regarding the scenario at the start of the panel interview. The activity will be assessing a technical aspect of the role.

Successful candidates must pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before they can be appointed.
BPSS is an entry level security check. It uses the Police National Computer (PNC) to make sure a candidate has no convictions. The check returns evidence of any current criminal record and un-spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Check (SC) before they can be appointed.
The requirement for SC clearance is to have been present in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years. Failure to meet the residency requirements will result in your security clearance application being rejected.

Where will you be working?
You will be aligned to our Cardiff office, where you will be expected to attend on a regular basis. We are currently using a hybrid approach to the way we work which provides opportunities for you to be adaptable in the way you work so that you can achieve a healthy balance between your work and home life. The degree of choice you have will depend on your role and your day-to-day work activities. Your manager will agree regular patterns of attendance with you, however you may be required to make yourself available to attend the office more frequently when required to meet business needs.
