Full Job Description
We are currently recruiting two Senior Lawyers to be based within our Commercial Law Team. The Commercial Law Team is divided into two sub-sections: the Contract Law Team and the Property Law Team. Both teams work collaboratively when needed to deliver projects. The roles are based within the Contract Law Team which provides advice and support to the Council across a range of legal areas, including contract, public procurement and subsidy control. Fluency Duty

Probation
In line with the Council's Probation Procedure, certain positions may be subject to a six-month probationary period. This requirement does not apply to internal vacancies.

The roles are open to Qualified Solicitors, Barristers or Chartered Legal Executives with a current practicing certificate and relevant experience in relation to the areas of work undertaken by the Contract Law Team and/or transferable skills that can be applied to the work undertaken by the Contract Law Team. Both roles are subject to Career Grades which will allow candidates to be appointed at a pay grade which appropriately reflects their level of experience and expertise and, once appointed, progress through pay grades whilst undertaking training, demonstrating increased levels of competence, and taking on more responsibilities. Employees within a Career Grade will progress through the Grades subject to meeting the progression criteria outlined within the Job Specification and there being a Service need for work at the next level.
Candidates will be expected to have some experience of drafting legal documents, inputting into the drafting of various types of report, conducting legal research and providing clear, concise and pragmatic legal advice.
Successful candidates will join a dynamic and experienced team undertaking critical work in supporting projects which help deliver the Councils' corporate priorities and the discharge of key statutory duties and responsibilities.
