Full Job Description

As an Additive Manufacturing De-Powdering Technician within Materials Solutions in Worcester, you will play an important role in the post-processing of advanced metal components produced using industrial 3D printing technology. You will be responsible for safely removing residual metal powder from manufactured components using automated systems, vacuum equipment and manual techniques. You'll inspect components to ensure the de-powdering process has been completed correctly, maintain equipment and accurate production records, and work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering colleagues to maintain a safe and efficient workflow. This is a practical, hands-on manufacturing role where attention to detail, safety and quality are essential, particularly when working with metal powders and specialist equipment. How You'll Make an Impact

  • Operate automated de-powdering systems, vacuum equipment and manual tools to safely and effectively remove residual metal powder from Additive Manufactured components.
  • Handle, recover and dispose of metal powders in accordance with defined safety, environmental and regulatory procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment and ventilation systems.
  • Inspect components following de-powdering to confirm process completeness and quality, identifying and reporting defects, inconsistencies or process deviations.
  • Carry out routine equipment checks, cleaning, maintenance and basic troubleshooting to maintain reliable operation and minimise production disruption.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation, including batch records, inspection results, powder usage and other required manufacturing records.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to maintain an efficient workflow, high housekeeping standards and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Experience within a manufacturing, production, engineering or similarly controlled environment, with previous Additive Manufacturing or post-processing experience advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of workplace Health and Safety, with experience handling metal powders, controlled materials or working within a powder-handling environment particularly beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity, with the ability to inspect components and consistently follow defined manufacturing and quality procedures.
  • A practical and proactive approach, with the ability to operate equipment, perform routine maintenance and support basic troubleshooting when issues arise.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills combined with the ability to work independently, maintain accurate records and use basic computer systems for documentation and reporting.
  • Experience with metal Additive Manufacturing technologies such as Selective Laser Melting (SLM), EOS or Renishaw systems, quality inspection techniques or Lean manufacturing principles would be advantageous.
