Full Job Description

We are recruiting a Laboratory Technician to join our Technical Services team who provide support to the wide variety of laboratories at our Preston campus. The successful candidate will primarily be focused on supporting undergraduate classes within our state-of-the-art laboratories based in Burnley.

Duties will include the set up and preparation of laboratories, providing day to day technical support and advice to staff and to students studying a diverse range of subjects in the Biology and Physiology area, from the preparation of reagents to culturing cell lines.

The successful candidate will help coordinate and undertake maintenance and configuration of equipment and relevant software, as well as help with the introduction of new technologies, procedures and practices and be familiar with a range of laboratory equipment and be health and safety conscious in their work.

The successful candidate will hold and undergraduate degree in a Science subject or equivalent experiential learning in a related discipline. Recent experience of working in Biological Science laboratory environments, with good practical skills in Scientific laboratory techniques relating to Biology and good customer service and communication skills both written and verbal are essential requirements for this role., Disability Confident
