Full Job Description
As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will support the day-to-day work of the laboratory, assisting with testing, preparing samples and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will be trained and supported throughout the apprenticeship.
Key duties include:
Assisting with laboratory tests and experiments under supervision
Preparing samples, materials and equipment for testing
Accurately recording results and maintaining laboratory records
Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment
Following health & safety procedures and quality standards

Working as part of a team to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy
An interest in science and laboratory work
Good attention to detail and organisational skills
Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Basic IT skills
GCSEs (or predicted grades), particularly Maths and Science, are desirable but not essential, GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.
Personal Qualities
- Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule
- Writing and numeracy skills
- Familiarity with computers / keyboards / typing skills
- Word, Excel, Access - statistics, graphs, data analysis
- General awareness of importance of safety, and in particular safety issues of working in a laboratory.
