Full Job Description

The ideal candidate does not need to have prior experience with all technical aspects of the job, but should be motivated to learn these skills in the position. We intend for this to be a career development role. As such, it could be a good fit for somebody who is looking to build research experience ahead of applying for a research degree. This role is primarily laboratory-based, with regular on-site presence required to provide hands-on support to lab users and contribute to the collaborative day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
Applications should be submitted by 12:00 noon (UK time) on Tuesday September 8 2026.
Applicants are responsible for asking two referees to send their reference letters directly to hr@ling-phil.ox.ac.uk by the closing date.

Faculty of Linguistics, Philology & Phonetics,Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG
The Faculty of Linguistics, Philology & Phonetics at the University of Oxford is recruiting a Lab Manager for its new Psycholinguistics Laboratory.
The lab provides infrastructure for experimental and computational research about human language processing and learning, spanning different languages, populations, and levels of linguistic analysis.
The lab has excellent physical space in the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities in Oxford (opened 2025). It is jointly managed by Colin Phillips, Matt Husband, and Adam Chong, on behalf of a broader research community in Linguistics and related departments. Researchers include a growing cohort of faculty, postdocs, doctoral and master's students, as well as undergraduate researchers, especially from the Psychology, Philosophy & Linguistics degree course. The lab uses diverse experimental and computational methods to investigate speaking and understanding at multiple levels of analysis (sounds, words, sentences) in diverse languages.
This is a fixed-term post (2 years) with duties that include supporting all aspects of the research pipeline in a growing lab community. Since the role involves working with many researchers at different levels, it is well suited to an individual who wants to gain diverse research experience and who can get interested in a wide range of research topics.
