Lab Support Steward

Job Title: Lab Support StewardSalary:£ 27,007.50 Per Annum Contract: Permanent Type of Employment: Full TimeHours: 37.5 Hours Per WeekLocation: GSK, Harmire Road, Barnard Castle, County Durham, England, DL12 8DTWe are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Lab Support Steward to join a well-established team supporting our client through an integrated laboratory service.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working within a structured scientific environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of compliance, safety, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

-Washing, managing, and restocking laboratory glassware

-Performing laboratory fume cupboard checks to ensure airflow compliance with procedures

-Safe handling and removal of contaminated and hazardous waste

-Cleaning and disinfecting laboratory areas using rotating disinfectants in line with procedures

-Supporting general media preparation activities

-Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, and GMP compliance across laboratory areas

-Following documented procedures and ensuring accurate record keeping in line with ALCOA principles (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, and Accurate)

GCSE/NAT level qualifications in English, Mathematics, and Science (preferably Biology)

-Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict procedures consistently

-A methodical and organised approach to work

-Good communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders

-An understanding of compliance and quality standards within a laboratory or regulated environment would be advantageous

This is a mobile and physically active role which includes manual handling and lifting activities, therefore a good level of physical fitness is essential.
