Kitchen Assistant - Toast Stores ltd - London

Toast Stores is a community hub in Springfield Park where connection and kindness fuel everything we do. Founded by two Shannon College graduates, we're building something special - and we need brilliant people to help us get there. We're looking for a Kitchen Assistant & Porter who's ready to roll up their sleeves, support our Head Chef, and be part of creating daily moments of joy for our guests. What You'll Be Doing Kitchen Support & Food Prep

• Work alongside the Chef preparing ingredients, mise en place, and supporting menu execution
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks - chopping, prepping, assembling dishes
• Help execute service during busy periods, especially supper clubs and weekend rushes
• Support menu development by testing recipes and providing feedback
• Learn the ropes and develop your culinary skills under experienced leadership
Kitchen Operations & Cleanliness
• Keep the kitchen running smoothly - washing up, cleaning as you go, maintaining stations
• Manage kitchen cleanliness to the highest standards (we're serious about this)
• Handle dishwashing and ensure clean equipment is always ready for service
• Deep clean kitchen areas, equipment, and storage spaces
• Help receive deliveries, check stock, and organize storage areas
• Support stock rotation and help minimize waste
Team Player Essentials
• Be the glue that holds BOH together during service
• Jump in wherever needed - flexibility is key
• Communicate effectively with the Chef and the rest of the team
• Help maintain food safety standards and follow HACCP procedures
• Support the team culture we're building - accountability, excellence, genuine passion
  
  Previous kitchen experience (even entry-level) or genuine hunger to learn
• Understanding of basic food hygiene practices
• Physical stamina - this role is active, fast-paced, and demanding

  Practical Stuff
• Flexibility to work varied hours including weekends and evenings
• Comfortable working in a high-volume kitchen environment
• Basic knife skills (or willingness to learn)
• Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene (or we'll help you get it)
