Kitchen Assistant - Holy Cross Hospital (full time)
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7, including alternate weekends
Salary: £12.71 per hour (enhanced weekend and Bank Holiday rate)
Closing Date: 7th August 2026; however, it will close earlier if an applicant is appointed sooner.
An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our team as a full-time kitchen assistant. We are open to exploring job share arrangements for the full-time role and welcome applications from those interested in flexible working.
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our busy catering team. This is an important role that helps ensure patients, visitors, and staff receive high-quality meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Working as part of a supportive team, you will assist with food preparation, meal service, cleaning duties, and maintaining high standards of food hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the catering team with basic food preparation tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen, dining, and food service areas.
- Wash kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery.
- Follow food hygiene, health, safety, and infection prevention procedures at all times.
- Assist with stock rotation and storage of food supplies.

- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Has good communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Understands the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.

Previous catering or kitchen experience would be desirable but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
Holy Cross Hospital is a registered Charity and owned by the Daughters of the Cross. Our expertise is in the provision of neurorehabilitation for our patients. We presently have 42 inpatient beds and provide outpatient physiotherapy for the local community.
