About the Role We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our dedicated catering team supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the school kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in preparing fresh food and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety. What you will do
- Assist with the preparation of ingredients and basic food production under the guidance of the chefs.
- Support the preparation of fresh, nutritious vegetarian meals.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment, ensuring they are cleaned and stored correctly.
- Support the kitchen and servery teams during busy service periods.
- Assist with receiving, checking and storing deliveries in line with food safety procedures.
- Follow all food hygiene, food safety and HACCP procedures.
- Demonstrate allergen awareness and help prevent cross-contamination. What we are looking for
- Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
- Allergen Awareness training (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or catering environment.
- Basic food preparation skills with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- A flexible approach and willing to support across the kitchen, servery and school events.
