Full Job Description

We are seeking a 0.50 FTE Kit Store Technician to support the BA Creative Arts and Humanities programme. The postholder will ensure the kit room is staffed to manage and distribute technical resources, ensure equipment is maintained and provide timely advice on replacement needs. In addition, they will provide assistance and support for academic staff in teaching and research and instruct students in the use of specialist equipment, software and other technical skills. The postholder will also work with departmental colleagues to manage the technical budget and support the technical needs of internal and external showcases and events including an end of year degree show. The post is based at the UCL East campus in Stratford, but some travel may be required to the Bloomsbury campus for departmental activities or to contribute to supporting teaching on the BASc Arts and Sciences programmes. This post is part-time at 0.50 FTE and available from 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible after that date. This role requires full on-site attendance which is likely to include Fridays. This role does not meet the requirements for a Skilled Worker visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. The postholder will have previous experience of technical support, teaching support and workshop delivery, with experience of providing technical support or equivalent experience in media and film production and / or stage or sound. Experience with professional media production equipment is also essential. In addition, the postholder will also have the ability to manage and prioritise competing workloads, maintaining high standards while working to tight deadlines in light of constant interruptions. Experience of managing and updating a SiSo online equipment booking system and experience of safe working practices in media production environments is desirable.
