Junior Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint Junior Clinical Fellows in Neurosurgery, with start date on 5th August 2026. The tenure of all posts is until 03rd August 2027. These posts do not attract a National Training Number.

Applicants should have a medical degree or diploma from a recognised university or institution and registered with the General Medical Council with a license to practise. They are also required to have evidence of foundation competencies with a minimum of 12 months clinical experience post eligibility for full registration with the GMC

These post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to an ST1-2 trainee in Neurosurgery

The Sheffield Neurosurgical Department is a regional unit serving a population of approximately 2.2 million covering South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, and North Lincolnshire. The Adult Neurosurgical Service is based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital with a 52 bed unit, including a 7 bed Neuro-Critical care and a 13 bed HDU. The Sheffield Neurosurgical Unit also includes the National Centre for Stereotactic Radiosurgery which comprises two gamma knives, including a Lexsell Perfexion., Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Sheffield, as well as specialist care for patients from further afield, including cancer, spinal cord injuries, renal and cardiothoracic services.
