Applications are invited for two Junior Clinical Fellow posts in Tertiary Neonatology at Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales, Cardiff, from September 2026 for six months, with possible extension to 24 months. Cardiff and Vale UHB delivers the full range of regional paediatric specialties, offering excellent neonatal experience within a leading centre. The NICU provides specialised tertiary services across South Wales. Although non-training posts, they include study leave, educational supervision and teaching. Extensions may involve subspecialty rotations. Applicants must provide two years of references, pass disclosure checks, and state immigration status. Preference may be given to candidates with prior NHS experience., The Junior Clinical Fellow in Neonatal Medicine provides high-quality care to newborn infants within the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University Hospital of Wales. The role involves assessment, diagnosis and management of babies requiring intensive, high dependency and special care, working across NICU, transitional care, postnatal wards and outpatient clinics. The post holder participates in a full shift rota, including day and night duties.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, the fellow collaborates with consultants, neonatal nurses, advanced nurse practitioners and paediatric trainees. Key responsibilities include supporting junior colleagues, escalating concerns appropriately and working within agreed competency limits.

The role includes participation in clinical meetings, teaching, simulation, journal clubs and case discussions, alongside contributing to postgraduate education and ongoing professional development. Additional duties include accurate clinical documentation, administrative work, audit and quality improvement, and adherence to Health Board policies, including infection control and data protection. Opportunities to engage in research and service development are encouraged within this tertiary neonatal centre.
