Joiner / Carpenter

Alliance Norse is currently recruiting for Joiner/Carpenter to join the team on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 16:30pm & Friday 8:30am - 16.00pm. To carry out a full range of carpentry works within the repairs, planned and voids contracts across Buxton and the surrounding areas. This will be predominantly working on the Councils housing stock but may include non-housing, commercial and other properties as required. Main Duties:

• Undertaking a range of 1st and 2nd FIX carpentry works.
• Carrying out carpentry tasks such as fitting of internal doors and frames, kitchens, skirting and architraves and repairs to UPVC doors.
• Undertaking other trades duties such as wall tiling, basic plumbing including repairs to pipework, plumbing to kitchen sink and small patch plastering.
• Partaking in "call-outs" outside the normal working hours and in line with the 'out of hour' rota where required.
• Liaising with the scheduling team on the completion of the work including, where appropriate, the planning of work to ensure the most effective use of time and resources and to ensure that they are made aware of the progress of work including abortive call, extra works and where works may extend past the target date.
• Working in accordance with all relevant Norse Policies & Procedures, Workplace Regulations, Health & Safety Legislation, and best practice guidelines.
• Reporting any hazards or concerns to the supervisor or line manager.
• Engaging with the effective operational team, focused on achievement of service plans and departmental priorities, providing guidance in your area of professional specialism.
• Providing instruction and supervision to apprentices and trainees where appropriate.
• Maintaining confidentiality when processing personal/customer data.
Other Duties The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied therefore the post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate to the role and as requested by his/her line manager, including:
• Carrying out duties appropriate to the grade of the post, including occasional travel to other offices as required.
• Promoting continuous improvement and delivering demonstrable high-quality products and services which embrace quality standards.

  City and Guilds certificate (or equivalent) in a plumbing related subject
• Familiar with COSHH regulations
• Knowledge in minor carpentry, plastering and tilling
• Sound knowledge of Kitchen and Bathroom installations
• Extensive experience in 1st and 2nd FIX domestic plumbing installations
• Previous experience working within social housing properties - Void and planned works
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
• Ability to organise own work to schedule
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
