Faculty
The University of Bradford has longstanding expertise in forensics, we were the first UK university to offer this subject at degree level. Our courses were recently re-accredited by The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences. We have excellent facilities and collections for teaching forensics at Bradford including a wide range of mock crime scenes, a court room, dedicated laboratory spaces, the largest teaching collection of archaeological human remains in the UK, a dedicated cone beam CT and microCT and wide range of equipment for prospection, survey and recording. These facilities arise from external capital funding (>£9M) and University investment in subject-specific teaching laboratories (£600k).
This role is aligned with the University Strategy that promotes the development of international academic partnerships, developing and expanding commercial links to support our mission, vision and values. Therefore, the ability to persuade, influence, motivate and establish credibility with a wide range of stakeholders is essential.
What you will be doing:
The Department of Archaeological and Forensic Sciences is seeking to appoint a lecturer at 0.5 fte to join our enthusiastic team of academics to lead and support our undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.
This role is primarily to provide teaching for our BSc Forensic Anthropology, BSc Forensic Science, MSc Forensic Archaeology and Crime Scene Investigation and MSc Forensic Sciences programmes.
Qualifications/ experience:
We are especially interested in candidates with an Honours degree or equivalent professional experience (including related casework experience) who would have the willingness and ability to teach modules such as:
- Forensic Biology
- Forensic Genetics
- Statistics and Databases for Forensic Scientists (Bayesian DNA interpretation and reporting)
- Interpretation and Presentation of Forensic Evidence for Forensic Science
