Full Job Description
Dickens Heath Community Primary School is seeking a passionate, skilled and nurturing SEND Teacher to join our team, working directly with children across school with communication, interaction and social and emotional needs, as well as working with school staff and leaders to develop the curriculum and provision to enable all children to thrive. About the Role We are looking for a teacher who can deliver high quality, personalised and inclusive learning that supports pupils' communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, sensory needs and independence. You will create a safe, structured and engaging environment where every child can thrive. You will work closely with our senior leadership team, dedicated support staff, families and a range of external professionals to ensure each child achieves their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. What we ask of you:
- Plan and deliver personalised learning and targeted intervention for pupils with communication, interaction and emotional regulation needs.
- Use specialist approaches including Total Communication, Intensive Interaction, Attention Autism, TEACCH, visual supports and sensory based learning.
- Oversee the curriculum development, planning and assessment of our communication and social and emotional school offer.
- Coach, guide and support school staff to confidently implement the graduated approach to support SEND pupils with communication, interaction and social and emotional needs.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and support emotional regulation using positive behaviour support.
- Work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, support staff and multi agency professionals.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, assessments and multi agency meetings.
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding, professionalism and inclusive practice.
A teacher who is: - Passionate about child development and inclusive education.
- Skilled in adapting teaching and providing targeted support for pupils with communication, interaction and social and emotional needs.
- Knowledgeable about communication, sensory processing and regulation.
- Committed to building strong relationships with children and families.
- Inspiring and supportive to coach and aid the development of colleagues.
- Reflective, proactive and eager to continue developing professionally.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team. Experience in Early Years, KS1 or specialist SEND settings is desirable, but we welcome applications from teachers with a strong commitment to SEND and a willingness to learn.
