Full Job Description

Please note we don't have a fixed closing date but instead will close the role when we have sufficient applicants to interview so apply soon to not miss out!
We are looking for a committed and practical Job Coach (SEND) to support learners with additional needs to move confidently into the workplace and progress towards employment.
This is a hands-on role working directly with learners and employers - helping young people prepare for work, succeed in placements, and build the skills, confidence and independence they need for the next stage of their journey.
About the role
As a Job Coach, you will support learners before, during and after work placements and internships. You'll work closely with employers to make sure placements are inclusive, supportive and meaningful, while helping learners develop real workplace skills.
Your work will include:

- Supporting learners to prepare for work, including CVs, interview preparation, travel training and workplace visits
- Matching learners to suitable placements through job analysis and employer engagement
- Providing in-work support, mentoring and confidence-building during placements
- Training learners to master tasks, model appropriate workplace behaviours and meet employer expectations
- Working with employers to explain learners' strengths, support needs and effective strategies
- Supporting progression into paid employment where appropriate
- Keeping clear records and reports on learner progress
- Liaising with parents/carers, tutors, employers and external agencies

You'll also help agree reasonable adjustments, contribute to employer relationships, and act as a key point of contact for learners and families.

We're looking for someone who is caring, organised and confident working with young people and employers. You'll be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team, and motivated by seeing learners succeed.
You will have:

- A good standard of education, with at least Level 2 Maths and English (or willingness to work towards this)
- Experience supporting learners or young people, ideally in a SEND, FE or workplace setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
- A good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
- The ability to work flexibly, use your initiative and manage your time well
- Basic to good IT skills

Experience with SEND learners, work-based learning, employability support or vocational profiling is particularly welcome. Knowledge of Makaton, BSL or Sign-a-Long would be an advantage but is not essential.
