Full Job Description
- Provide tailored support to young people to enable them to gain, learn from, develop in and maintain their internship and to make a positive progression into employment.
- Provide tailored support to employers to enable them to offer a meaningful internship and recruit interns where possible.
- Co-ordinate, develop and deliver the work element of the Supported Internship Programme. Role and responsibilities:
- To support the Lead Job Coach in providing an outstanding provision for both students and employers.
- Source potential employers and identify possible internships for students by a variety of means such as cold calling, visits, liaising with other departments.
- To act as an ambassador for the benefits of employing people with learning difficulties and disabilities in the work place.
- To use job matching and job carving skills to negotiate job descriptions that meet employer needs and match to the skills and abilities of interns and ensure an appropriate internship in the work place.
- To facilitate tutorial and workshop sessions with a caseload of learners.
- Review Education, Health and Care Plan outcomes with learners and their family. Set challenging targets to meet individual needs identified.
- Support interns with travel arrangements, visits to the work place and preparing for their internship.
- Support interns to be successful in their internship, providing an appropriate level of work place support and guidance by completing regular visits and observations of interns, reviewing progress, negotiating increases in responsibility, troubleshooting and training interns for tasks.
- Support employers by advising on reasonable adjustments, being the first point of contact for problems, negotiating solutions and identifying additional tasks.
- To facilitate other employees in an internship organisation to become confident in working with and supporting interns to carry out their duties.
- Liaise with the teaching team, providing a link between the employer's needs and college training paying particular attention to any literacy and numeracy needs.
- Negotiate opportunities for the interns for paid employment, support the interns with job search, application and CVs and signpost to other services, if appropriate.
- Keep accurate records of job coaching support provided.
- Work in partnership, representing the college, with students, employers, the wider college network and parents / carers.
- To participate in the college's appraisal scheme.
- To actively promote equality of opportunity for staff and students and external stakeholders at all times.
- To ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and to comply with the college's published policies. In particular, those regarding health and safety, safeguarding and equal opportunities.
- To undertake any other such duties and responsibilities, which may fall with the purview of such post and grade.

- Experience of supporting learners with learning difficulties and / or disabilities or specific learning difficulties
- Ability to form positive and constructive relationships with challenging and vulnerable young people
- Experience of working in partnership with curriculum staff and external support services (desirable), Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
- Qualification in working with people with learning difficulties and or disabilities / supported employment / careers
