Full Job Description

Do you have a passion for technology and a talent for solving IT problems? We're looking for a proactive IT Technician to provide high-quality technical support across our Trust, helping both staff and students work more efficiently. If you thrive on variety, enjoy helping others, and have strong technical skills, we'd love to hear from you. As part of our central IT support team, you'll be the go-to person for resolving desktop issues, managing upgrades, and keeping our IT systems running smoothly. From assisting in classrooms to maintaining servers, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our technology empowers learning every day. Working Pattern The successful candidate will provide support across our Walsall and Wolverhampton Schools including Smestow Academy, Pool Hayes Primary School, Elmwood School and Bloxwich Primary School. The specific days and locations may vary depending on the IT support requirements of the individual schools and the availability of their Headteachers. The successful candidate will therefore need to demonstrate a flexible approach to their working pattern and be comfortable working across multiple school sites, including being able to reliably travel across sites. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, upgrading, and maintaining hardware and software
  • Managing MS Teams, Outlook Groups, and network user accounts
  • Maintaining shared network areas and promoting good digital housekeeping
  • Supporting events such as assemblies, training sessions, and parent evenings
  • Checking IT equipment, replenishing consumables, and keeping asset registers up to date

GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English & Maths - A Levels or IT-related qualifications are a plus
  • Experience in an IT support role (school experience desirable but not essential)
  • Confidence with Windows 10, Microsoft Office, and ideally Office 365
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with both hardware and software
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and customer service skills

It is an exciting time to join an expanding and thriving Trust. Our central Head Office supports seven Academies across the West Midlands with over 800 staff employed and 7,000 pupils. We always say 'if it's not good enough for our own families it's not good enough for our pupils' and we really mean what we say. Every child deserves an exceptional education.
  • We are committed to fostering a culture that values the health and well-being of all employees at Matrix Academy Trust. We are proud to offer a comprehensive well-being package to all employees, including access to 24/7 online GP, physiotherapy services and counselling services. We also offer all employees annual health checks which includes the flu jab, BMI checks and a general discussion with a qualified Nurse.
