Full Job Description

The IT Manager has overall responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of all PML IT services and the management of the IT team. This is an operational leadership role focused on running a reliable, secure, and well-supported IT function, covering infrastructure, systems, projects, vendors, and user support across multiple PML sites.,

  • Lead and manage the IT team, providing mentoring, performance management, workload allocation, recruitment, development and technical escalation support. Oversee the organisations IT estate, including servers, networks, firewalls, cloud services, end-user devices, VPN/remote access, software licensing, asset management and change management, ensuring secure, reliable and effective IT services.
  • Manage IT service delivery, SLAs, system performance and the helpdesk, identifying trends and implementing improvements to reduce recurring incidents. Lead IT projects and workstreams from planning through to delivery, managing budgets, risks, dependencies and stakeholders.
  • Manage IT suppliers, contracts, renewals and procurement, ensuring value for money and contractual service levels. Provide expert support for complex technical issues and oversee IT training, prioritising support for clinical teams to minimise disruption to patient care.
  • Develop effective relationships with senior colleagues, external IT providers and NHS partners, acting as the day-to-day lead for IT and reporting performance, risks and key issues to the Associate Director. Develop, maintain and test disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements, including backup and restore procedures.
  • Maintain IT policies, procedures and cybersecurity controls, including user access, Active Directory and security awareness, ensuring compliance and protection of organisational data.

    PML is a successful not-for-profit, GP-led organisation providing various NHS community and primary care clinical services to patients across Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. We have evolved as a NHS healthcare provider since 2004 and in the last few years have grown significantly, now employing around 300 staff with a turnover of circa £16m. PML holds GMS contracts, as well as being a GP Federation representing circa 50 GP practices covering approximately 650,000 patients.
