Do to the nature of the role, you will have a UK driving licence and a car to be considered for this position, Are you an experienced infrastructure engineer looking for a diverse and challenging role within the exciting world of Fire and Rescue? We are looking for an exceptional engineer with a strong background in IT infrastructure who can assist with our move to Azure. The role requires a diverse skillset as we are a small team managing a wide range of technologies. We are looking for an engineer who specialises in IT infrastructure, virtualisation, storage, backups, and IaaS. The ideal candidate would have a proven history working in these areas and acting as a senior figure within a team of second and third-line engineers. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, has a desire to learn and to make a difference. This is a great opportunity for someone who not only would like to work with infrastructure but also learn other aspects to our blue light services, such as radios, bespoke applications, and other forms of communications technologies. You will be working within the IT team for Community Protect Directorate of Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is part of Hertfordshire County Council. The team support all applications, IT infrastructure and communications equipment for Community Protection Directorate, East Coast and Hertfordshire Fire Collaboration. This Includes: In house and 3rd Party software, Server Infrastructure, Windows Server, SQL Server, Hyper-V, Veeam, Intune, Mobile Devices, Azure Services, Telephony, and Radio. This also includes the support of mission critical, bespoke fire infrastructure, applications and systems for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service 24x7x365 days for the purpose of mobilising fire engines and personnel. You will be joining the team at the ideal time as we are implementing a new mobilising system. Due to complications around maintaining our existing while implementing a new system we are rebuilding the vast majority of our applications in preparation for the new solution. This has given us the opportunity to redesigned the infrastructure from the ground up making use of cloud. You will be working alongside a third-line infrastructure engineer, the infrastructure manager and our applications engineers to continue the transition.
