IT/AV Technician

Date Posted: September 27, 2026

Location: Camden Town, Greater London, GB, NW1 8

Application Deadline: December 26, 2026, 19:01:35

We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and experienced IT professional to join our team as an IT/AV Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your existing expertise in a fast-paced, supportive, and varied environment—contributing to the delivery of high-quality IT services across the Royal Veterinary College (RVC).

In this hands-on role, you'll work closely with the IT Resources Manager, the Helpdesk team, and colleagues across the IT department to provide outstanding 1st and 2nd line support to students and staff. Based primarily at our Hawkshead campus, you'll also occasionally travel to our Camden campus to support and maintain over 2,000 University-managed Windows systems across both sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues across a wide range of hardware, software, and operating systems—including audio-visual equipment.

  • Offering guidance and support to students with their personal devices.

  • Troubleshooting efficiently, communicating effectively, and collaborating across teams and departments.

  • Delivering user-focused, reliable IT services that support the College's broader strategic goals.

We are seeking someone with:

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Proven experience working with both hardware and software in a complex, user-focused environment.

  • Experience in higher education is highly desirable.

  • A solid background in troubleshooting, technical problem-solving, and analytical thinking.

  • Confidence working with both technical and non-technical colleagues to ensure seamless support across the institution.

The Royal Veterinary College is currently the QS number 1 ranked veterinary school in the world and is a great not-for-profit organisation to work for. The College's total reward package includes:

  • A competitive salary.

  • A generous Pension Scheme.

  • Annual leave entitlement.

  • Free sports/gym facilities at campuses in Camden and Hertfordshire.

  • A hybrid working policy providing flexibility as appropriate.

  • Normal working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with occasional variation in consultation with your line manager.

Benefits include:

  • Attractive pension package.

  • 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays and concessionary days.

  • Family-friendly policies including adoption, maternity, and paternity leave and pay.

  • Free membership to gym facilities, including a Fitness and Wellbeing Centre with classes such as Zumba, yoga, and Pilates.

  • Cycle to work scheme.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact Chloe Barr, IT Resources Manager, for queries about the role. We promote equality of opportunity and diversity within the workplace and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
