Full Job Description

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organisation. We pay an attractive salary of £35,412 - £38,220and offer access to training and development opportunities. Caerphilly County Borough is facing significant challenges from invasive plant species such as Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam and Giant Hogweed. We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual to help protect and restore our local environment. In this role, you will lead on limiting the spread of invasive plants and reducing existing infestations across the County Borough. Your work will involve practical land management, implementing effective control techniques, monitoring affected sites, and delivering educational initiatives to raise awareness within local communities. You will collaborate closely with partner organisations, landowners and community groups to support environmental regeneration and strengthen the area's biosecurity. The post plays a key part in enhancing the landscape and improving the ecological resilience of both rural and urban areas. For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example Countryside Management
  • Practical knowledge of the control of invasive plant species with knowledge of the issues particularly relating to the South Wales Valleys.
  • A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings
