Full Job Description

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Contract: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: As soon as possible Are you looking for a role that's a little different and truly inspiring? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Intervention Teacher to join our small, dedicated team in a unique farm-based setting. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning and achieve success. About Us Changing Lives Independent School is a small specialist SEND independent provision supporting approximately 60 students aged 11-19, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Our students primarily have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and benefit from a highly personalised approach to education. Set within a beautiful rural environment in Carrington, Trafford, our school offers a nurturing and therapeutic atmosphere where relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We use animals, including horses and small animals, as part of our therapeutic approach to supporting students' emotional wellbeing, engagement and personal development. Our small class sizes, strong pastoral support and creative curriculum enable students to develop confidence, resilience and the skills they need to thrive both in education and beyond. The Role As an Intervention Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting students who require additional academic, emotional and therapeutic interventions. Working closely with teaching staff, therapists and pastoral teams, you will design and deliver targeted programmes that address individual barriers to learning and promote positive outcomes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering tailored intervention programmes for individuals and small groups.
  • Supporting students to close gaps in learning and improve confidence in core skills.
  • Developing personalised strategies to help students engage positively in education.
  • Monitoring, assessing and recording progress against intervention targets.
  • Working collaboratively with class teachers, therapists, families and external professionals.
  • Contributing to a positive, nurturing and therapeutic school culture.
  • Supporting students' social, emotional and mental health development alongside their academic progress.
  • We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
  • Is passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced challenges in education.
  • Is creative, resilient and able to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
  • Shares our belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed.
  • We Offer:
  • The opportunity to work in a truly unique and rewarding educational environment.
  • Small class sizes and the ability to make a real difference to students' lives.
  • A supportive and friendly staff team.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • A therapeutic and nurturing working environment.
  • Access to our unique farm-based facilities and animal-assisted interventions.
  • The chance to be part of an ambitious and rapidly developing specialist provision.
  • If you are passionate about supporting young people with SEND and SEMH needs and want to work in a setting where no two days are the same, we would love to hear from you. Changing Lives Independent School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks, satisfactory references and pre-employment safeguarding checks.
