Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Internal Communications Officer to lead the delivery of a measurable, multi-channel internal communications programme that engages and connects staff and students across the Royal College of Art.
This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional with specialist internal communications experience, ideally gained within Higher Education or a similarly complex organisation. Working closely with the Head of Communications and colleagues across Engagement, Brand & Marketing (EBM), you will develop compelling content and campaigns that support the College's strategic priorities, strengthen community engagement, and enhance the staff and student experience.
You will take ownership of key internal communication channels, including the College intranet, staff and student newsletters, and targeted email campaigns. You will work collaboratively with academic and professional services teams, senior leaders, and the EDI team to ensure communications are timely, inclusive, engaging and aligned to the RCA's values and strategy.
The role also involves supporting major institutional initiatives and events, including all-staff meetings, Welcome activities, student surveys (PRES/PTES), and the annual Graduate Show. You will provide communications advice and support to senior stakeholders, develop templates and briefing materials, and contribute to crisis and issues communications when required.
We are looking for someone with:
+ Significant experience delivering integrated internal communications programmes.
+ Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills across multiple channels.
+ Confidence working with senior stakeholders and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
+ Experience of crisis communications and issues management.
+ Strong analytical skills and the ability to measure and evaluate communications effectiveness.
+ Experience managing digital channels, including intranet platforms and email communications.
+ An understanding of the Higher Education environment and its operational context.
This role is ideal for a proactive, collaborative communicator who can translate complex information into clear, engaging content and build strong relationships across a diverse organisation.
If you are passionate about internal communications and creating meaningful engagement, we would love to hear from you.
Please apply using the short application form with upload for CV/covering letter by 11.59pm on Tuesday 30^th June 2026.
