Full Job Description

As an Intermediate Tools Engineer, you will develop and improve the technical tools, systems, and workflows that enable teams to create high-quality game content efficiently. You will work closely with artists, designers, and engineers to identify technical challenges, build practical solutions, and support the visual and technical development of projects., 1. Tools and Workflow Development: + Develop, maintain, and improve internal tools and technical systems that support content creation and development workflows. + Work with project teams to identify inefficiencies and create solutions that improve usability, iteration speed, and production quality. 2. Rendering and Visual Technology: + Contribute to rendering research, optimisation, and implementation, helping projects achieve strong visual quality within performance targets. + Support the development and customisation of shaders, materials, and compute-shader solutions where required. 3. Technical Systems Design: + Help design robust, scalable technical systems that meet project requirements and can be clearly understood by the wider team. + Provide practical technical input during planning, prototyping, and feature development. 4. Collaboration and Problem Solving: + Partner with art, design, and engineering disciplines to diagnose technical issues and implement effective solutions. + Communicate technical considerations clearly, helping non-technical stakeholders understand options, risks, and trade-offs., Based just outside Birmingham, Flix is made up of welcoming, passionate, active gamers that support one another in all aspects of development.   • Experience developing tools, pipelines, or technical systems for game development.
  • Strong knowledge of rendering concepts, optimisation techniques, shaders, and compute shaders.
  • Familiarity with Niagara customisation and technical approaches to visual-effects development.
  • Ability to research, prototype, and evaluate technical solutions for production use.
  • Strong systems-design thinking and a practical, detail-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
