Full Job Description

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) ensures highly strategic operational delivery of the Trust on a day-to-daybasis, bringing a strong sense of vision and inspirational approach. Working with system partners and through the divisions, they provide leadership, management, and direction to secure the effective and clinical operation and flow of the hospital, delivering high quality and safe patient care and meeting all national and local performance standards for the Trust and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight system. As a full member of the Trust Board and Executive Director, the Chief Operating Officer will hold corporate responsibility jointly with other Board and Team members for the strategic direction, corporate policy making and the development and delivery of the Trusts objectives. With a focus on quality, improvement, building system and organisational capability and sustainability, the Chief Operating Officer will develop and implement models of care, system and corporate
strategies, operational and business plans to deliver NHSI and CQC compliance as well as the Trusts mission, five-year strategic objectives, and excellent patient care. With a focus on continuous improvement and innovation, the post holder will lead the transformation of process and services to ensure we realise our ambition to provide outstanding care every time. In conjunction with external partners and key relationships, the post holder will lead the transformation of services to provide a high-quality sustainable service fit for the future. The Chief Operating Officer will develop and maintain productive strategic and operational relationships between the Trust and external partners, including regulators and other stakeholders, within the ICS and beyond. Core to the role is the demonstration of leadership qualities and behaviours that promote inclusion and diversity and are consistent with national NHS guidelines, the Trusts values and be a role model for staff.
