Full Job Description

You'll join Lincolnshire County Council's Information Assurance Team, a specialist service that helps the council use information lawfully, safely and transparently.

The team provides advice on information governance, data protection, freedom of information, records management and information security. We work closely with council services, partners and external organisations.

You'll be supported by experienced managers and peers, alongside a range of tools and techniques to help you succeed. While this role focuses on Information Governance, you'll work collaboratively across wider information assurance activities., As an Information Governance Officer, you'll support the delivery and ongoing improvement of the council's information governance framework, with a focus on data protection and freedom of information.

You'll provide clear, proportionate advice to services, support compliance with legal requirements, and help colleagues apply good information governance practice in their day-to-day work. This includes contributing to DPIAs, information sharing agreements, policy development, and organisational assurance activity.

You'll also support the council's traded Information Assurance service, respond to requests for support, and help develop clear guidance and training materials for a range of audiences.

You'll have experience working in information governance, data protection or a similar assurance role, with a good understanding of relevant legislation, including data protection and freedom of information.

You'll be confident explaining complex requirements in plain English and building positive working relationships. You'll be organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities while identifying and managing risk.

You'll be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience. A professional qualification in data protection or information governance, or knowledge of related areas such as records management or information security, would be an advantage., In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
