Full Job Description

An excellent opportunity to work in a welcoming team with experienced leaders in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). Our team are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered practitioner to join the team.The successful candidate will have significant clinical practice of at least two years post qualification. It would good if the successful candidate had IPC experience as a link practitioner or undertaking a quality improvement project on IPC.The post requires working together with other stakeholders across the Trust to follow our Trust values and to ensure the IPC policy and guidelines are implemented into the Trust practice.The IPC service delivers a wide range of education, training, audit and quality improvement to reduce the risk of avoidable infections to our patients.The post holder will be expected to spend at least 80% of time within the clinical area providing training and support, education and advice to the clinical staff and 20% on project works (such as, The post holder will provide infection prevention and control (IPC) support to Newham University Hospital with occasional working at Whipps Cross Hospital.

The person will work closely with clinical staff across a number of services to develop and education, audit and surveillance programme. The role is supported and supervised by a Senior IPC Practitioner.

The post holder will produce summary reports based on IPC activity, and present findings to the relevant clinical teams.

Support the services with IPC related quality improvement projects and product trials.

Support and assist the IPC Team in providing an infection control service in reducing the incidence of healthcare associated infections (HCAIs).

The post holder will be expected to support the Team's proactive approach to prevention, surveillance, investigation, and control of infection. This will include the implementation and education of evidence based infection prevention practices.

The post holder would be expected to support the learning needs of the IPC Link Practitioners.

The post holder will be a strong patient advocate, ensuring that the care of patients reflects best clinical standards and that all patients are treated with dignity and respect

Contribute towards the development of IPC policies.

Provide a wide range of education sessions to a cross section of staff on IPC related topics.
