Full Job Description

We're looking for a compassionate and customer-focused Independent Living Housing Officer to join our team. This rewarding role focuses on supporting older and vulnerable residents to live independently within our specialist housing schemes and general needs accommodation. Working closely with residents, colleagues and partner agencies, you'll help create safe, welcoming and well-managed communities while delivering a high-quality housing management service that promotes wellbeing, independence and customer satisfaction. What you'll do As an Independent Living Housing Officer, you'll be responsible for delivering a responsive and person-centred housing management service to older residents across a portfolio of specialist housing schemes. You'll carry out daily wellbeing calls, complete home visits, support tenancy sustainment, manage low-level anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches, and work alongside external agencies to meet residents' individual needs. You'll undertake scheme and estate inspections, monitor health and safety compliance, oversee communal facilities and contractor services, manage void properties, and support the efficient letting of homes. You'll also play an active role in resident engagement by facilitating meetings, encouraging involvement, and promoting a strong sense of community within our schemes. Maintaining accurate records, identifying safeguarding concerns, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness, security and maintenance will be key parts of the role.

We're looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is passionate about supporting older people and delivering exceptional customer service. You'll have the ability to build positive relationships with residents, colleagues and partner agencies while managing a varied workload with confidence and professionalism. Experience in housing management, tenancy management, safeguarding, anti-social behaviour, or working with vulnerable individuals will be highly beneficial. You'll be comfortable using a range of IT systems, maintaining accurate records, and handling sensitive situations with empathy and discretion. A proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills, good organisational ability and a commitment to promoting independence and wellbeing are essential. You'll also need the flexibility to support colleagues across schemes and maintain high standards of service delivery in a dynamic environment.
