Full Job Description

Media Concierge, a large, privately owned family business with annual turnover of more than £200 million, is looking for a commercially minded and versatile qualified solicitor to join our in-house Legal Team at our London Head Office, supporting our businesses across the UK and Ireland. This is a broad and varied role, providing legal advice and practical support across a diverse group spanning print media, websites, direct mail, media planning and buying, digital marketing, distribution and transportation. You will join two experienced solicitors who have both been with the group for many years. We also work closely with a panel of leading UK law firms where specialist external advice is required. As the group continues to expand, we are now looking to add further legal talent to support its growing range of activities. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of corporate and commercial matters, including commercial contracts, acquisitions, property, employment and general business-related legal issues. The role Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including contracts connected with acquisitions and the integration of new businesses.
  • Advising the group's businesses on day-to-day contractual and commercial matters.
  • Supporting property-related work, including leases, licences and other property agreements.
  • Providing legal guidance on employment-related matters in conjunction with HR and senior management.
  • Supporting acquisitions, corporate transactions, due diligence, business integration and other change initiatives.
  • Identifying legal and commercial risks and providing clear, pragmatic recommendations.
  • Managing matters involving external solicitors and other professional advisers where appropriate.
  • Helping to maintain and improve legal templates, processes and governance across the group. Supporting the wider Legal Team with other legal matters and projects as they arise., The group is highly acquisitive, creating regular exposure to contracts, corporate transactions, due diligence, integration work and a wide variety of day-to-day legal and commercial issues. No two days are likely to be the same, and you will have the opportunity to make a visible contribution within a close-knit, experienced team.
  • This role would suit a capable all-rounder who enjoys variety, wants to work closely with the business and is motivated by finding practical solutions rather than simply identifying legal problems. We are open to candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours and are happy to discuss a working pattern that suits both the individual and the needs of the group. To apply, please submit your CV together with a brief covering statement outlining your relevant experience and interest in the role.

A qualified solicitor, ideally admitted in England and Wales, you will need to demonstrate experience in corporate and/or commercial legal work. This may have been gained in private practice, in-house, through consultancy or through a combination of these. You may currently be working in practice and looking to move in-house, or you may have already left practice and be seeking a varied role with close commercial involvement. You will ideally be familiar with one or more areas such as commercial contracts, corporate transactions, property or employment law, with an interest in developing your knowledge across the others. You will be:
  • Commercially aware and able to balance legal risk with practical business needs.
  • Confident drafting and negotiating contracts and explaining legal issues in straightforward language.
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload and moving between different subjects and priorities.
  • Proactive, adaptable and willing to take ownership of matters.
  • Able to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
