Full Job Description
- Due to Addleshaw Goddard's continued success, we are expanding our established Procurement team and are seeking a Legal Specialist to join us.
- Supporting the firm's global procurement service firmwide, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial supplier contracts from start to finish, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and play a key role in shaping robust contracting processes and best practices.
- This role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to play a pivotal role in a dynamic and evolving team environment during a period of global growth., Addleshaw Goddard's Procurement team is a centralised function supporting all the Firm's procurement needs. The team plays a key role in delivering services that underpin the firm's operations, providing timely support for immediate needs and strategic projects.
- The team builds long-term partnerships with suppliers and continuously improves processes to add value to the firm.
- As part of our Procurement team we have a dedicated legal team, who work closely with our commercial colleagues and our wider business to ensure we have robust and appropriate contracts and contracting processes in place and manage our supplier relationships effectively. WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE The following list of duties is not exhaustive but gives a flavour of the duties the Legal Specialist undertakes:
- Draft, negotiate, and advise on a variety of commercial supplier contracts, including new agreements, extensions, and variations, from start to finish
- Collaborate with the Office of the General Counsel and Information Security teams to ensure appropriate due diligence is conducted on all suppliers
- Provide clear and pragmatic advice to stakeholders, including senior management, on the commercial and legal aspects of contracts, highlighting potential risks to the business
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, acting as an ambassador for the team and promoting best practices
- Support on developing and maintaining contract templates and a precedent bank to improve efficiency and consistency within the department
- Support on maintaining and improving the team's contracting processes and technology, including our contract lifecycle management system and data
- Provide training to the Procurement team on relevant legislation and regulatory changes affecting contracts and procurement activities
- Assist Procurement Leadership in driving process improvements and implementing changes that benefit the team and stakeholders
A legal qualification (e.g. LLB, CILEX) and at least 2 years' experience working with commercial contracts, ideally in a procurement context - Strong knowledge of legal issues in contracting, including data protection, intellectual property and IR35 considerations
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, coupled with strong commercial awareness
- Proven ability to analyse complex issues, draw clear conclusions, and articulate the commercial implications of contractual terms to diverse audiences
- Resilience and professionalism in managing conflict, challenging assumptions, and delivering difficult messages effectively
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment
- Strong organisational skills, with a track record of managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
- Experience in legal operations or technology would be advantageous
