IMS Mainframe Systems Programmer

Join us as an IMS Mainframe Systems Programmer at Barclays, where you'll maintain and optimise IMS environments to ensure the performance, stability, and resilience of critical mainframe systems. You'll support high-availability operations, resolve multi-faceted incidents, and collaborate with teams across the bank while contributing to ongoing modernisation and automation initiatives.
- Ample knowledge of IMS DB/DC, z/OS, JCL, system utilities, and mainframe infrastructure.
- Ability to diagnose multi-faceted production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and restore service quickly in a high-availability environment.
- Experience implementing changes safely, maintaining system stability, and ensuring performance, recovery, and operational resilience.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Knowledge of Assembler with experience of supporting user exits would be advantageous but not necessary.
- Ability to improve efficiency through scripting, job automation, monitoring, and process optimisation.
- Understanding of the IMS Catalog and IMS Managed ACB concepts.
You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
