Imaging Lead and Assistant Technologies Manager

The primary purpose of this post is to act as Assistant Manager for the Flow Cytometry Service and Operational Lead for the Imaging Service. The post-holder will work closely with the Technology Platform Manager to support the operation, maintenance, and strategic development of all facility instrumentation and services. Responsibilities include delivering user training, troubleshooting technical and experimental issues, and providing expert advice to researchers on experimental design and data analysis. The post-holder will also contribute to the implementation and monitoring of health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practice across the Technology Platform laboratories.

The post-holder will have research experience in confocal microscopy and advanced imaging technologies and, ideally, experience in multi-colour flow cytometry, including cell sorting. Candidates will possess excellent communication, organisational, and technical skills, enabling them to maintain facility operations to the highest standards. They will be able to think on their feet in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage competing priorities, and provide outstanding support to a diverse research community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to service excellence, and the ability to work collaboratively with researchers, technical staff, and key stakeholders across the organisation.

The Institute of Infection, Immunity and Transplantation (IIIT) is Department of the UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences comprising approximately 170 staff, including 40 academic/teaching faculty and 14 facilities or administrative support staff. We undertake discovery/translational research and teaching in the immunology of health and disease, and in pathogen biology. We are predominantly situated at the UCL Hampstead Campus within the Pears Building and UCL laboratories within the Royal Free Hospital Building. The Technology platform comprises Flow Cytometry and Imaging technologies and served as the core of the research done within the institute.
