Full Job Description

The Level 2 IAA Adviser will provide high-quality, regulated immigration advice within a charity setting, supporting refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and other people facing immigration-related barriers. The postholder will manage a varied caseload within their authorised Immigration Advice Authority level and category, deliver accessible and compassionate advice, prepare applications and representations, and help clients understand their rights, options and next steps. The role will contribute to the charity's mission to promote dignity, inclusion and access to justice for people who may be vulnerable, marginalised or unable to afford private legal advice. Essential Criteria:

  • Provide IAA-immigration advice within the permitted scope of Level 2.
  • Conduct sensitive and thorough client interviews, identify immigration issues, assess eligibility, and agree practical case strategies with clients.
  • Prepare and submit immigration applications, write representations and submit supporting evidence.
  • Draft clear advice letters that are accessible to clients.
  • Support clients to understand Home Office processes, evidence requirements, deadlines, rights and responsibilities.
  • Identify when matters fall outside Level 2 competence or the charity's remit and make timely referrals.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date case records in line with charity policies, data protection requirements, funder requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Work sensitively with clients who may have experienced trauma, destitution and exploitation.
  • Contribute to outreach, drop-in advice sessions, workshops or community-based advice activity where required.
  • Build positive working relationships with partner organisations, community groups and local authorities.

    Experience supporting refugees, asylum seekers, migrants or people with complex support needs.
  • Knowledge of welfare, housing, safeguarding or community support pathways relevant to immigration clients.
  • Experience delivering advice through outreach, drop-ins, community venues or partnership settings.
  • Experience using case management systems and contributing to audit, quality assurance, monitoring or funder reporting.
  • Language skills or experience working effectively with interpreters.
  • Understanding of the voluntary and community sector, including grant-funded service delivery and impact reporting.

  • Annual leave (pro-rata where applicable): 25 days plus bank holidays. Additional day of leave added per year of employment (max 5 days)
