Full Job Description
We are supporting a major HVDC converter station construction project and are seeking an experienced HVDC Site Supervisor to oversee M&E installation activities on one of the UK's flagship programmes. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the safe and efficient delivery of mechanical and electrical installation works across the converter station. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising daily M&E activities on site.
- Ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently and to programme.
- Monitoring contractor performance, quality and productivity.
- Ensuring compliance with project specifications, QA/QC requirements and industry standards.
- Coordinating subcontractors and specialist installation teams.
- Supporting commissioning and handover activities.
- Conducting toolbox talks, site inspections and safety briefings.
- Managing permits to work and ensuring strict adherence to HSE procedures.
- Reporting progress, risks and site issues to the Construction Management team.
- Working collaboratively with engineering, commissioning, planning and client representatives.
Proven experience as a Site Supervisor on HVDC Converter Station or HV Substation construction projects. - Strong Mechanical & Electrical construction supervision background.
- Experience supervising large EPC contractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
- Knowledge of converter station equipment, GIS, transformers, reactors, switchgear, cable systems and auxiliary systems.
- Understanding of QA/QC documentation and construction reporting.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work within fast-paced, complex infrastructure projects. Essential Qualifications
- SSSTS or SMSTS
- CSCS Card
- First Aid at Work (desirable)
- National Grid Person or equivalent (advantageous)
- Relevant Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification If you have experience delivering HVDC or high-voltage transmission projects and are looking for your next contract
