Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager will report to the Director of People and form an integral part of the Central Team, leading the day-to-day operational delivery of the HR function as part of the wider People Team. The role has formal line management responsibility for the HR Assistants within the People Team. The postholder will provide high-quality senior operational HR support across the Trust, ensuring effective service delivery, consistent standards, quality assurance, compliance and operational performance. They will lead on complex employee relations matters, organisational change and TUPE processes, absence management, recruitment and workforce planning, HR systems, and the implementation of People policies and procedures. The role is based at the Central Team office at Gordano School in Portishead, with regular visits to schools across North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset (BANES), and Bristol. The postholder will also deputise for the Director of People as required and provide leadership cover for the Organisational Development Manager.

• CIPD Level 7 qualification, or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Substantial senior-level HR experience, ideally as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor.
• Extensive experience of managing complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance and safeguarding-related cases.
• Proven experience of organisational change, consultation, restructuring and, ideally, TUPE processes.
• Strong working knowledge of employment law, HR best practice, safeguarding requirements, safer recruitment and compliance frameworks.
• Strong analytical, organisational, communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective stakeholder relationships.
• Confidence in advising and influencing senior leaders, providing balanced, pragmatic and legally compliant HR advice.
