Working in partnership with families, communities and professionals,the team delivers timely interventions, promotes strengths-based practice and helpsprevent needs from escalating. As part of a fast-paced and supportive service, you willwork directly with families across the county to improve outcomes and support positive,sustainable change.Overview of your roleAs part of a small team of Family Support Workers within EHAST, you will workalongside other professionals to provide short-term, focused early help interventions forchildren, young people and families. Using a "How can we help?" approach, you will offeradvice, guidance, signposting and practical support at the earliest opportunity, helpingfamilies access the right support and preventing needs from escalating into higher-levelservices.Who will your manager be and what will you be responsiblefor?Reporting to the EHAST Team Manager who is responsible for your health and safety,training and development.Working as part of a small team of Family Support Workers, Senior Family Practitionersand other agency partners to deliver short-term Early Help interventions for children,young people and families.Building effective working relationships with internal and external partners to ensurefamilies receive the right support at the earliest opportunity.Responsible for maintaining accurate records, case notes and reports in line with servicerequirements, policies and procedures.Responsible for preparing responses to enquiries relevant to your role in line withShropshire Council policies, procedures and timescales.Responsible for completing all mandatory corporate and role-specific training withinrequired timescales. Training requirements will be identified through induction,supervision and the Performance Development Review (PDR) process.,

  • Undertake home visits and direct work with children, young people and families to
  • identify strengths, needs and appropriate support.
  • Provide short-term, focused Early Help interventions using a strengths-based "How
  • can we help?" approach.
  • Offer information, advice, guidance and signposting to help families access the right
  • support at the earliest opportunity
  • Work in partnership with statutory, voluntary and community services to coordinate
  • support and improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Support families to prevent needs from escalating into higher-level services where
  • appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and professional case records, reports and electronic
  • case management systems.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns in line with local
  • procedures and statutory guidance.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, training and continuous professional
  • development activities.
  • Contribute to the development of Early Help services and support the
  • implementation of Families First reforms and future Family Help developments.The above duties are an illustrative outline and are not an exhaustive list. The post-holder will promote and engage with Council's responsibility to safeguard the welfare of children, young people and adults, and protect their right to be safe from harmWhat are your conditions of ServiceThe conditions of service are those laid down by Shropshire Council, which have beenadopted and amended as necessary from those laid down by the National Joint Councilfor Local Government Services.This is a hybrid role, requiring the post holder to attend their designated office base aminimum of three days per week, alongside home working arrangements, subject toservice needs.

  • The post is permanent, for 37 hours per week.
  • Normal working hours are 8.45am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to
  • 4.00pm Friday, with a minimum lunch break of 30 minutes. Due to the nature of the role, occasional evening work may be required to meet the needs of children, young people and families.
  • This is a hybrid role, requiring attendance at Sunflower House, Shrewsbury, for a
  • minimum of three days per week, alongside home working arrangements, subject to service needs.
  • The role requires travel across Shropshire to undertake home visits, attend
  • meetings and support children, young people and families within their local communities.Annual leave entitlement is a pro rata flat rate scheme of 207 hours (28 days) annualleave plus bank holidays, with five days extra awarded to those staff with five years localgovernment service giving an entitlement of 244 hours (33 days). Two days of anemployee's allowance (pro rota for part time staff) must be taken at Christmas for anypotential Christmas closures. Employees who work in a building/service which is requiredto open over the Christmas period, the two days leave (pro rota) can be carried over intoyour next leave year but must be used by the end of March.The appointment is subject to one months' notice in writing on either side.The appointment is subject to six months' satisfactory probationary service during whichtime the notice period will be one week on either side.Smoking is not allowed in Council buildings, in Council vehicles or in any Council place ofwork.It is a condition of your appointment that you provide a suitable vehicle for theperformance of your duties and that this is readily available for use during normalworking hours. You are entitled to claim for reimbursement of the costs of travel oncouncil business at the rate of 55 pence per mile.What pre-employment checks will we undertake?The appointment is subject to receipt of the following pre-employment checks; 1.
