Introduction
Hull City Council is seeking an enthusiastic Housing Apprentice to join our team and provide vital administrative and operational support. This varied role covers broad aspects of social housing provision while giving you hands-on experience across a range of housing related functions.
About the Employer
Working within the Neighbourhoods and Housing Service, this post is an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of working in an office environment but also to learn the importance of social housing within a local authority. Working within the Housing are teams you will be working with a team of people responsible for the housing management of tenancies as the landlord and will provide you with the opportunity to not only learn admin functions but also to learn about roles within the housing service overall. During your time with the team you will experience all elements of the service to provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills in different disciplines.
What You'll Do
Work within a fast-paced social housing management team, learning from Tenancy Officers, Assistants and other housing staff. This will mostly be in an office environment but may also involve work in tenants’ homes.
You will support our housing management team in delivering high quality services to tenants and residents.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with tenancy management and resident enquiries
- Supporting with property inspections & estate visits
- Helping to coordinate tenancy sustainment activities
- Recording and maintaining accurate customer and property information using a variety of IT systems
- Learning and supporting rent collection services
- Working with tenants, contractors and partner agencies
- Providing excellent customer service via phone, email and on occasions face to face
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience across traditional housing management functions while developing your knowledge of the social housing sector.
You will provide high-quality and efficient support, including:
Communication
- You should be able to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, staff, prospective employees, and other service users at all levels
- Maintaining specific databases, inputting and extracting data
- Accurately input data into various databases and systems, extract and manipulate data as required, and ensure all information is up to date and appropriate
- Maintaining up-to-date, accurate, and quality data on appropriate systems and more
- Accurately and efficiently use bespoke systems to complete tasks effectively
Training Outcome
The successful candidate will be given the opportunity of full-time employment upon completion of the apprenticeship if positions are available.
