Full Job Description
Are you passionate about supporting people, streamlining processes, and playing a central role in the success of an innovative and vibrant university department? The Department of Biochemistry is seeking an organised and proactive HR & Visitors Administrator to join its evolving HR team from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to join a department where people matter, ideas are encouraged, and where teams thrive on collaboration, continuous improvement, and supporting career development. You will play a key role in supporting the department's HR function by overseeing the administration of visitor processes, casual appointments, and HR record retention, and providing administrative support to a variety of other HR activities, helping to deliver efficient, accurate, and people-focused services across the employee lifecycle. Working with us means joining a collaborative, forward-thinking, and friendly environment where your contribution is genuinely valued. We are proud of our strong team ethos, our commitment to personal and professional development, and our shared ambition to deliver outstanding support to world-class researchers, students, and staff. This post is full time, although part time at 80% may be considered.
You should have a GCSE equivalent education or higher, with proven experience in providing high-quality administrative support, including record maintenance, meeting arrangements, and team operations. You excel in fast-paced environments, effectively prioritising tasks, managing deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting professionally with diverse stakeholders, both in writing and orally. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) is required. Your collaborative nature helps you build positive relationships and support colleagues. Awareness of data protection and information security, along with a commitment to delivering responsive and professional service, is important.
