This role is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the LGA graduate programmes team supporting Impact, Impact: Finance, and Pathways to Planning. Our mission is to recruit graduates from a wide range of backgrounds into local councils where they can work and develop their skills and knowledge to become managers, planners, surveyors, and finance professionals. As the HR and Payroll Assistant you will provide recruitment administration support for candidates to Pathways to Planning, Impact, and Impact: Finance. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team particularly if you are interested in recruitment and project management. You will have the opportunity to learn on top of your existing knowledge. It will certainly provide you an exciting and stimulating working environment. - LGA annual leave entitlement is 29 days, rising to 31 days after three years' service and to 33 days after five years' service, plus all UK public holidays (pro rata for fixed term and part time contracts).
- Flexible & agile working - office-based staff are required to work in the LGA's London office two days per week as a minimum, subject to business need and this may vary significantly between different roles and from week to week.

It is essential that candidates have gained demonstrable experience of working within a HR or recruitment administrative role. You will hold sound knowledge and understanding of HR or recruitment processes and administration and hold the ability to apply this knowledge in practice. It is also desirable that a candidate is either CIPD Level 3 qualified, or currently working towards this however if you have demonstrable experience in HR or recruitment then please don't let this put you off. The successful candidates will be enthusiastic, confident and have a flexible approach to work. They will be customer focused and passionate about their work. The ability to multi-task and prioritise when working under pressure is vital for the successful candidate. To succeed in this role, you must have excellent administrative skills, applicants will be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, exceptional organisational skills and be confident in the use of office software packages. You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage., 1. A good knowledge of office systems and procedures likely to have been gained from previous administrative experience within a HR and/or payroll team. 2. Good oral and written communication skills. 3. Good organisational skills with an ability to manage own workload and priorities in order to meet deadlines, and respond to changing priorities. 4. Able to work under pressure, prioritising work against competing and challenging demands to meet deadlines. 5. Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with email and telephone enquiries in a courteous and patient manner, providing a high level of customer care. 6.
