Full Job Description

Are you an experienced HR professional looking to make a real difference to employee wellbeing and attendance across a large and diverse organisation? We have an exciting opportunity for 2 HR Officers to join our Human Resources team, specialising in Managing Attendance. This role will play a key part in helping managers support employees to remain healthy, engaged and productive whilst ensuring consistent application of attendance management policies and procedures throughout the authority. As a customer-focused HR professional, you will work closely with managers, headteachers, employees, trade unions and senior leaders, providing expert advice and guidance on sickness absence management, employee wellbeing, attendance casework and broader employee relations matters. You will support managers through complex and sensitive situations, helping them achieve positive outcomes whilst ensuring compliance with employment legislation and Council policies. In addition to attendance management responsibilities, the postholder will contribute to the delivery of our developing Wellbeing Strategy. This includes supporting wellbeing initiatives, promoting wellbeing resources, contributing to wellbeing events and campaigns, strengthening manager capability to support employee wellbeing, and using insight and data to identify areas where targeted interventions can improve attendance and employee wellbeing outcomes. While this role is primarily focused on managing attendance and employee wellbeing, there will also be opportunities to support the wider HR team on a range of people management matters, including employee relations, policy development, organisational change, workforce planning and HR projects, offering excellent opportunities for professional development and broad HR experience. For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Current working knowledge of HR policies, practices and procedures.

Experience of working in a HR Service.

We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme, agile working patterns and staff discount schemes.
