Full Job Description

The Departments of Earth Sciences and Statistics at the University of Oxford are seeking to appoint a permanent HR Manager.
Come and join two friendly, small departments and play an important role in ensuring they can deliver their world-leading research and teaching, as well as improving their resilience in the HR function. The successful post holder will deliver an efficient and effective HR service for both Departments. You will manage all HR duties undertaken by the HR team, and will provide advice to the Heads of Administration and Finance, the Heads of Department and other senior members of staff on all HR matters.
You will take a leading role in HR projects, the development of policies and procedures, and be proactive bringing forward ideas for improvements and efficiency gains. You will work closely with HR Colleagues in the MPLS division, People Department and other departments to ensure that Earth Sciences and Statistics adopt relevant policies and best practice.
You will contribute to the wider operational strategy of the departments. This will involve working closely with other senior administrative and research support staff, along with academics and researchers. You will work to ensure both departments provide a positive, supportive and inclusive environment for all.

You will have HR expertise demonstrated by CIPD accreditation and/or significant operational HR experience, including experience of managing a busy HR operation and using HR information systems.
You will enjoy managing a team and be accustomed to providing advice, guidance and training. You will have excellent knowledge of UK employment law and visa regulations, and experience of complex casework. Strong interpersonal skills are a must, including the ability to influence senior leaders, with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
