Full Job Description

pre-employment check process (references, right-to-work, contracts) Help maintain a positive candidate experience as the business scales its hiring Onboarding Own the new starter process: inductions, paperwork, system access requests, and first-week check-ins Continuously improve onboarding materials as the business and roles evolve HR administration & data Maintain accurate, compliant HR files (physical and digital) for all employees Manage and update HR data/HRIS, ensuring records are current for headcount, absence, and reporting purposes Support production of routine HR reports and metrics First-line HR support Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day employee queries (holiday, policies, benefits), escalating more complex matters appropriately Signpost employees to relevant policies and self-service resources Help maintain and update the policy library as things change General Provide flexible support across HR and, where needed, adjacent functions as priorities shift

Contribute ideas for improving processes as the organisation grows - much of what this role covers will evolve over time Other tasks which may be reasonably required from time to time What Working Here Is Like: Priorities can shift quickly - you might be sourcing candidates one day and updating HR systems the next Processes are still being built in places, so you'll sometimes be working things out as you go rather than following an established playbook Investment-backed and founder-led, so pace and visibility are both high - decisions get made fast Person Specification Essential Criteria: Area Criteria HR Previous experience in an HR administration, coordination or generalist support role Recruitment Experience supporting recruitment processes (scheduling, screening, coordination) Systems Confident using HR systems/HRIS and standard Microsoft Office and other workspace tools Data & accuracy High attention to detail, particularly with HR records, data, and confidential information
Communication Clear, professional communicator, comfortable handling first-line employee queries Pace Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment Discretion Understands and respects confidentiality given regular access to sensitive employee data Desirable Criteria: Area Criteria Qualifications CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) Sector experience Experience in a scale-up, SME or investment-backed business Employment law Working knowledge of core UK employment law and policies Growth mindset Interest in developing further into a specialist or advisory HR/talent role Process improvement Experience helping to build or improve HR processes rather than just following them
