Full Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking HR Casework Team Leader to help shape the delivery of expert HR support across the Council, schools, and partner organisations. This is an influential role where you will lead a team of HR professionals, manage complex and sensitive casework, and play a key part in developing policies and approaches that protect and strengthen our organisation. - Leading and coordinating the day-to-day work of the HR Casework Team, promoting high performance, consistency and continuous improvement.
- Providing professional, solution-focused advice on a wide range of complex HR issues, including conduct, resolution, sickness absence, capability, probation, performance and whistleblowing.
- Representing the Council at formal hearings, appeals and Employment Tribunals.
- Designing and delivering staff briefings, training sessions and policy-related guidance.
- Working closely with senior leaders, trade unions and external partners to secure positive and fair outcomes.
- Supplying robust qualitative and quantitative case data to HR Business Partners.
- Monitoring KPIs and contributing to wider HR strategy and service development.
- Delivering HR support within an effective risk-management framework, helping to identify and respond to organisational risks.
CIPD Level 5 qualification (or significant, relevant HR experience with strong procedural knowledge). - Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and support a team.
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience handling complex and sensitive situations with tact, professionalism and sound judgement.
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders and external partners.
